Family Matters Empower
Child/Visition Purpose

The program facilitates an incarcerated parent’s access to their child(ren) and allows the opportunity to use the tools and practice the skill sets learned in parenting classes.  It alleviates the trauma that may be caused by having an absentee parent.  When possible and appropriate, children thrive when they have regular access to both parents.

Target Population

FTAP primarily serves families who are impacted by incarceration, parents who are either currently incarcerated or have been released from SBC correctional facilities.

Voluntary Participation

Enrollment is voluntary and open to inmates of minimum and medium security levels. High security inmates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Access to child visitation is contingent upon participation in educational classes.

Testomonials
Family matters has a lot of good information the two instructors seem as though they have slightly different outlooks on the subject of parenting teaching me the best of both worlds highly recommended.
The services being provided by these two extraordinary women is fruit of this earth! I am honored and humbled to write my thoughts in appreciation. With sincere pleasure their teaching styles flow like a breath of fresh air and their passion is second to none. This unique curriculum and duo ought to be in schools.
Family Matters classes and the facilitators are amazing.  The instructors go above and more than beyond for us who have messed up and are incarcerated, we who do not even deserve a chance, but they gave us that chance.  Honestly speaking if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn't have been able to have a good relationship with my wife and to have good communication with my loved ones. They brought the good in me out, I say thank you for the chance.
